Past Events

Almost Sunrise

On December 9th and December 15th, 2017, Vets 4 Vets Santa Cruz screened the documentary Almost Sunrise and hosted a panel discussion with local combat veterans. Almost Sunrise follows two Iraq War veterans as they embark on a 2,700 mile journey to overcome their haunting experiences of combat and ultimately save themselves. We Are Still Here

On June 1, 2018, photographer and Air Force Veteran, Will Kraintz, presented black and white portraits of approximately 1% of the veteran population in Santa Cruz (130 portraits). The goal of the project was to raise awareness about the difficulties many vets face after leaving the service, the ways they so often choose to give back to their communities, and the services available to them through county programs.
